Review

Disc Image is a creator and editor of disc images. It works as a converter (between different disc image formats) and a virtual CD/DVD drive that can mount ISO CD/DVD images on a Microsoft Windows-based system.

You can create ISO disc images with this program or other special products, and then mount images with Disc Image. The program also gives you the ability to test images before burning them to disks in order to prevent possible burning errors and ruining new discs. The latest version of Disc Image includes an ISO image editor which can be used to create images based on an existing compilation of files and folders. It is a very useful and simple to use tool.

When mounting an image, the program simulates adding a CD/DVD-ROM drive and inserting a disc into it. You can create as many virtual drives as there are drive letters available in your system. Virtual drives are very small in size, simple to operate and quick to access, without loud whirring noises. This application easily reads multiple formats and can mount .iso/.bin/.nrg/.mdf images that contain ISO9660, Joliet, UDF or all three file systems, but will not accept image files if Windows fails to read that particular file format.
Advantages
  • Image editor.
  • Reads multiple formats.
  • Very useful for playing games without using discs.
Disadvantages
  • Limited functionality in the demo version.
  • Only for Windows.
  • Only available in English.
